PRESS ACCREDITATION NOTICE – “Italy in Space” Event (Farnesina, 17 September 2018)

On Monday, 17 September 2018, at 10:00 a.m., the Farnesina will host the event titled “Italy in Space”, aimed at illustrating to the Diplomatic Corps and to the world of business and research the new governance system introduced by Law No. 7/2018, which came into force last 25 February and set up an ad hoc Inter-ministerial Committee under the aegis of the Prime Minister’s Office and chaired by Giancarlo Giorgetti, MP.

The event will open with remarks by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Emanuela del Re, the Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Education, University and Research, Lorenzo Fioramonti, the Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Defence, Raffaele Volpi, the President of the Italian Space Agency (ASI), Roberto Battiston, and the Member of the European Parliament and Rapporteur of the EU Regulation to reform the space sector, Massimiliano Salini.

The opening session will follow with a greeting from Italian astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti through a video conference call.

 

The event will close at 11:45 a.m. with remarks by the Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI), Manlio Di Stefano, the CEO of Leonardo SpA, Alessandro Profumo, and the Undersecretary of State at the Prime Minister’s Office with delegated powers for space and aerospace policies, Giancarlo Giorgetti.

The meeting will be chaired by the MAECI’s Director General for Cultural and Economic Promotion and Innovation, Vincenzo De Luca.

Journalists, photographers and TV crews interested in following the event are requested to apply for accreditation by sending an email to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation’s Institutional Press and Communication Service at the following address: accreditamentostampa@esteri.it (Tel. + 39 06/3691.3432 or 8573 or 8210), attaching thereto the letter of his/her media organisation (or press card for freelance reporters) and, for members of the foreign press, a Note Verbale released by the Rome Embassy of the media organisation’s Country.

Accredited journalists, photographers and TV crews may collect their accreditation badges in person from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, main entrance – left-hand side – from 9:30 a.m.
