Within the framework of the Italian OSCE Chairmanship, on 22 October 2018 at 9:30 a.m., the Farnesina will host the Conference “Combatting Intolerance and Discrimination, with a Focus on Discrimination Based on Religion or Belief: Towards a Comprehensive Response in the OSCE Region”, co-organised by the ODIHR (OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI).
The Conference will be open to the press from 9:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
The opening remarks will be made by Guglielmo Picchi, Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and by Ingibjörg Sólrún Gísladóttir, Director of OSCE/ODIHR.
The opening session will be followed by a Plenary Session with keynote speeches by Rabbi Andrew Baker, Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office on Combating Anti-Semitism , Salvatore Martinez, Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office on Combating Racism, Xenophobia and Discrimination, also focusing on Intolerance against Christians and Members of Other Religions, and Bülent Şenay, Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office on Combating Intolerance and Discrimination against Muslims. The session will be moderated by Cristina Finch, Head of the OSCE/ODIHR Tolerance and Non-discrimination Department. A family photo is scheduled at around 11:00 a.m.
