On Wednesday, 10 October 2018, at 11:30 a.m., the Farnesina will host the presentation of the Day titled “Giornata del Contemporaneo – Italian Contemporary Art”, an event held annually to celebrate and disseminate contemporary art, now at its 14th edition in Italy.
For the first time this year, the Contemporary Art Day is also promoted abroad through the network of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) as the 1st International Festival of the “Giornata del Contemporaneo – Italian Contemporary Art”: nearly 80 offices of Embassies, Consulates and Italian Cultural Institutes joined the initiative, organising more than 80 events, debates, presentations and exhibitions on the theme of contemporary art culture from 8-13 October, with the aim of not only highlighting artists and their works but also the producers, curators, stand fitters, museum directors, critics, art magazines and books.
The event will open with remarks by Vincenzo De Luca, the MAECI’s Director General for Cultural and Economic Promotion and Innovation, followed by contributions by Federica Galloni (MIBAC), Gianfranco Maraniello, President of AMACI, Marcello Maloberti, designer of the image of the GDC 2018 and Alessandro Masi, Secretary General of the Dante Alighieri Society.
Journalists, photographers and TV crews interested in following the event are requested to apply for accreditation by sending an email to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation’s Institutional Press and Communication Service at the following address: accreditamentostampa@esteri.it (Tel. + 39 06/3691.3432 or 8573 or 8210), attaching thereto the letter of his/her media organisation (or press card for freelance reporters) and, for members of the foreign press, a Note Verbale released by the Rome Embassy of the media organisation’s Country.
