On Monday, 10 June 2019, at 5 p.m., the Farnesina will host the presentation of the online platform “Italians Abroad, Diaries Tell Tales”.
The project – implemented with the contribution of the Directorate General for Italians Abroad and Migration Policies of the Foreign Ministry – involves a selection of the most significant testimonies collected in the fund classified under the subject title “Emigration” at the Fondazione Archivio Diaristico Nazionale di Pieve Santo Stefano (Arezzo). It consists of diaries, letters and memories telling the story of “ordinary” Italians living abroad between the beginning of the 19th century to date, collected since 1984 by the Archivio Diaristico Nazionale and offered to interested readers worldwide.
The event, which is open to the press, envisages speeches by Elisabetta Belloni, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Luigi Maria Vignali, Director General for Italians Abroad, Nicola Maranesi, the project curator and Pier Vittorio Buffa, editorial advisor.
At the presentation, Francesca Ritrovato and Jacopo Bicocchi will read excerpts from the testimonies gathered on the online Platform.
