On 3-4 December 2019, the Farnesina will host the High-Level Seminar “Increasing the participation of women in peace processes. What roles and responsibilities for Member States?”. The Seminar, organised by UNWomen, offers an opportunity to reflect on and analyse the role of States in promoting a greater and more effective participation of women in negotiating processes and in the implementation of peace agreements.
The Seminar will be open to the press on Tuesday 3 December, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
The family photo opportunity scheduled at around 6:00 p.m., will be followed by the Opening Session with addresses by the Deputy Executive Director of UNWomen, Asa Regnér, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Emanuela Claudia Del Re, and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, Leymah Gbowee.
The Seminar will be attended by numerous representatives of foreign Governments, UN Senior Officials, Members of the Italian Parliament and members of the Mediterranean Women Mediators Network (MWMN), in addition to representatives of other regional mediators Networks.
