Press Accreditation Note – XIV Plenary Meeting of the Guardia di Finanza Expert Officers (Rome 6 and 7 March 2023)

On 6 and 7 March 2023, the XIV Plenary Meeting of the Guardia di Finanza Expert Officers on duty abroad will be held in Rome.

The two-day event will be attended by 25 officers stationed at Italian diplomatic missions around the world, as designated under the MAECI-GdF Memorandum of Understanding of May 2021. The meeting is the most important event for examining in depth the structured cooperation established between the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Guardia di Finanza (the Italian Financial Police) in many areas. During the course of the event, the officers, who operate abroad to combat tax evasion and economic-financial crime, will be provided with up-to-date information on issues of common interest to the two Authorities and guidance on the specific geographical contexts in which they operate.

On the first day (6 March), the meeting will take place at the General Headquarters of the Guardia di Finanza and will start at 9.00 a.m. with the welcome speech by the Commander General of the Guardia di Finanza, General Giuseppe Zafarana, and by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani. The Minister of Economy and Finance, Giancarlo Giorgetti, will also participate.

On the second day (7 March), the meeting will take place at the Farnesina in the International Conference Room and will start at 10.00 a.m. with the welcoming speech by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Riccardo Guariglia, and the Commander General of the Guardia di Finanza, General Giuseppe Zafarana. A speech by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, is scheduled to follow.

Following the institutional speeches – at approximately 10.30 a.m. – there will be a photo opportunity.

The event will not be broadcast via live streaming.
