PRESS ACCREDITATION NOTE UPDATE – Conference of Italian Missionaries Worldwide “The Person at the Centre” Rome, 7 December 2023

PRESS ACCREDITATION NOTE UPDATE

Conference of Italian Missionaries Worldwide

“The Person at the centre”

Rome – 7 December 2023

On Thursday 7 December 2023, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., the Conference of Italian Missionaries Worldwide entitled “The Person at the Centre” will be held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

The event, which is entirely open to the press, will feature opening remarks by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, and by the Secretary for Relations with States of the Holy See, H.E. Msgr. Paul R. Gallagher.

The missionary world has a very ancient history in Italy. The missionary engagement in the world expresses a significant social and humanitarian commitment abroad that cuts across broad sectors of our society, united by a Christian vision of providing assistance to people in the most vulnerable countries. By giving voice and visibility to missionaries, the Conference intends to provide a platform for listening and dialogue that is intended to be made permanent in view of acquiring visions and proposals, and to seize together the opportunities of the partnership with Africa by fostering synergies and innovative collaborations, starting with the priority sectors to which the three thematic sessions – linked by the common thread of “the person at the centre” – will be dedicated: education and vocational training, health and childhood, mediation and institutional reconstruction, as well as the right to food.

An institutional photo (11:00 a.m.) will be taken in between the works, which will be concluded by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Antonio Tajani (3:15 p.m.).
