PRESS ACCREDITATION NOTE
On Friday, 1 March 2024, at 3.30 p.m., Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Antonio Tajani will hold a press conference in the Aldo Moro Room of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Farnesina) to present the most recent activities carried out as part of the NRRP Project “Turismo delle radici: una strategia integrata per la ripresa del settore del turismo nell’Italia post Covid-19” (Roots Tourism: An integrated strategy for the recovery of the tourism sector in post-Covid-19 Italy.
The NRRP Project, designed to boost roots tourism and encourage the 80 million Italian expatriates and their descendants around the world to visit their country of origin, aims to promote the historical, traditional and cultural heritage of small villages in Italy, which are generally excluded from the well-known tourist circuits.
Taking place about a year after the project was presented, the press conference will be an opportunity to provide an update on the different activities on the agenda, so as to raise public awareness of the initiatives planned for 2024, the year of the Italian roots in the world.
In particular, following the examination of all the proposals submitted for the ‘Bando dei Comuni’ call for proposals, specific grants will be awarded to the over 800 Italian municipalities under 6,000 inhabitants winning the call. These funds will be allocated for the organisation of cultural events and manifestations related to the Italian communities abroad, as well as for the digitisation of archives and the activation of workshops dedicated to traditional local crafts.
The event will not be streamed.

For representatives of Italian press organisations:
- copy of an identity document
- letter of assignment from the newspaper of affiliation or – in the absence of the latter – copy of professional identity card.
For representatives of foreign press organisations, not accredited at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs:
- copy of an identity document;
- letter from the newspaper of affiliation;
- Verbal note of the Embassy in Rome of the country of the press organisation represented.
For representatives of foreign press already accredited at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the request must be sent with a copy of an identity document attached.
Accredited journalists, photographers and cameramen may enter the Farnesina from the main entrance, left side, from 2:30 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. on 1 March.
Submitting the above-mentioned personal data means authorising the use thereof in accordance with Italian Legislative Decree no. 196 of 30 June 2003 and the GDPR (EU Regulation 2016/679) by the Directorate General for Public and Cultural Diplomacy of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the data controller, for strictly professional purposes and/or purposes related to the performance of the event in question.
