ACCREDITATION NOTE – STATES GENERAL OF DIPLOMACY
XVII CONFERENCE OF ITALIAN AMBASSADORS
ROME – MILAN 16-19 DECEMBER 2024
On Monday 16 and Tuesday 17 December 2024, the Italian Foreign Ministry will host the XVII edition of the “States General of Diplomacy”, the Conference of Italian Ambassadors in the world, an event to discuss Italy’s international action, with the participation of over 150 heads of Italian diplomatic missions abroad and numerous Government Ministers.
The Conference, organised with the media partnership of RAI news and ANSA, will be an opportunity to address the current international scenarios; cyber security and hybrid threats; the projection of Italian know-how in the world through research, science, energy and culture; the new European legislature; the promotion of exports and the internationalisation of companies.
On Wednesday 18 and Thursday 19 December 2024, the programme of the Conference of the Italian Ambassadors in the world will take place in Milan. Information about events in Milan will be communicated with a separate accreditation note.
Monday 16 December – Farnesina, Italian Foreign Ministry
10:00 a.m.: family photo.
10:30 a.m.: inaugural session with speeches by the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani (RAI AND OFFICIALS ONLY).
11:30 a.m.: first session on the theme “Peace and negotiations. International scenarios”, with speeches by Minister Antonio Tajani, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation, Ignazio Cassis and the Director General of the IAEA, Rafael Mariano Grossi.
2:00 p.m.: second session on “cyber security, hybrid threats, artificial intelligence” with speeches by Minister Antonio Tajani, Minister of Defence Guido Crosetto, and the Undersecretary of State to the Prime Minister and Delegated Authority for the Security of the Republic, Alfredo Mantovano.
4:00 p.m.: third session on “The projection of Italian know-how in the world: research, science, energy and culture”, with speeches by Minister Antonio Tajani, the Minister of the Environment and Energy Security, Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, the Minister of University and Research, Anna Maria Bernini, the Minister of Culture, Alessandro Giuli, and the Minister of Education and Merit, Giuseppe Valditara (via video link).
5:00 p.m.: fourth session on “New European legislature: challenges and opportunities”, with speeches by Minister Antonio Tajani and the Minister for European Affairs, NRRP and Cohesion Policy, Tommaso Foti.
5:30 p.m.: closing session with the speech of the Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni (video message).
The institutional speeches of the sessions on Monday 16 December will be open to the press, which will be able to follow via audio-video link in the listening room (Sala Aldo Moro), and will be streamed on the Youtube channel of the Italian Foreign Ministry.
The works of 17 December will take place behind closed doors.
ACCREDITATION PROCEDURES:
Journalists, photographers and cameramen interested in attending sessions open to the press on 16 December may apply for accreditation by sending a request by Friday 13 December at 6:00 p.m. to accreditamentostampa@esteri.it (tel. +39 06/3691-3432-8573-3078), attaching the following:
For representatives of Italian press organisations:
- copy of an identity document;
- letter of assignment from the newspaper of affiliation or – in the absence of the latter – copy of professional identity card.
For representatives of foreign press organisations, not accredited at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs:
- copy of an identity document;
- letter from the newspaper of affiliation;
- Verbal note of the Embassy in Rome of the country of the press organisation represented.
For representatives of foreign press already accredited at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the request must be sent with a copy of an identity document attached.
Due to space constraints, it may be necessary to organise pools of photographers for image moments, and cameramen for shooting.
For requests for the positioning of satellite vehicles, the license plates and model of the vehicles must be communicated by email to accreditamentostampa@esteri.it no later than Friday 13 December 2024. The vehicles will be positioned starting from the morning of Sunday 15 December.
Press representatives are informed that, on the occasion of the Conference, the Public Security Authorities will define some measures that will limit the circulation of cars and the use of parking lots in the areas adjacent to the Farnesina.
Accredited journalists, photographers and cameramen may enter from the entrance of Via Macchia della Farnesina in the following ways:
Monday, 16 December – Entrance via Macchia della Farnesina (press side):
– from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. for cameramen and photographers
– from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. for journalists
At times other than those indicated, the accredited press will be able to enter and exit from the central entrance, VIP Room.
Submitting the above-mentioned personal data means authorising the use thereof in accordance with Italian Legislative Decree no. 196 of 30 June 2003 and the GDPR (EU Regulation 2016/679) by the Directorate General for Public and Cultural Diplomacy of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the data controller, for strictly professional purposes and/or purposes related to the performance of the event in question.
