Fashion goes to Kampala

As part of the events planned for Italian Design Day in the World, the Embassy organised a fashion show in conjunction with the AVSI Foundation called “Seeds of Hope. Moving Forward”. The event hosted over 13 African fashion designers coming from Cameroon, Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda. The Rozviccycathy dance company performed to the music of DJ Rachel, Uganda’s most popular DJ and a particularly active supporter of women’s rights.
The funds raised will be donated to the women associated with  Meeting Point International (a partner  of the AVSI Foundation in the long-distance assistance programme) to support their entrepreneurial skills.
The event comes after the successful event “Seeds and Threads”,  a similar initiative launched in 2017 that was attended by the Speaker of the Ugandan Parliament, Hon. Rebecca Kadaga, who promoted the fund raising that the Embassy and AVSI donated to the COWA Centenary Vocational Training School in Nsambya.
