The Italian Ambassador to the United States, Armando Varricchio represented Italy at the Ministerial to Advance Religious Freedom organised by the United States Department of State on 25-26 July. The Meeting, chaired by the Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, was also attended by Vice President  Mike Pence and by the President’s Senior Advisor Jared Kushner,  in addition to the representatives of more than 80 Countries and international agencies.

At the meeting, which was aimed at identifying innovative awareness-raising strategies and approaches on the link between religious freedom, security and growth, Ambassador Varricchio underscored Italy’s constant commitment to protect religious freedom at bilateral, community and international level. As proof of this commitment, the Ambassador recalled that, following up on the Conference on the fight against anti-Semitism organised by Italy under its 2018 chairmanship of OSCE, a High-Level Conference to further delve into the theme of religious freedom in the OSCE participating States will be held in Rome next October.
