Today, the Italian Ambassador in Belgrade, Carlo Lo Cascio, attended the inauguration of the first plant of Italy’s GLM Group in Zrenjanin, in the autonomous province of Vojvodina. The company specialises in the production of mechanical parts for the automobile sector, currently employs 68 workers, and hopes to bring them to more than 100 in the next few years. In Zrenjanin, the Ambassador also met with the Mayor, Cedomir Janjic, and visited the other Italian companies operating in the area. Vojvodina is in fact home to 70 Italian companies employing a total of 11,000 employees. Last year, trade between Italy and Serbia reached 3.9 billion euros. Ambassador Carlo Lo Cascio stated: “Our strength lies in succeeding to share our economic model with Serbian managers and employees. We are here to jointly find ideas and solutions for a common future of growth and wellbeing,” and added how the presence of Italian companies in Serbia is significant is several sectors: textile, automobile, banking and insurance, metallurgy and agriculture.
