Celebrating Leonardo da Vinci: Exhibitions, conferences and performances

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation is planning more than 150 events this year to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the death of Leonardo da Vinci. They will  include exhibitions, conferences, films and theatrical performances celebrating the great genius of the Renaissance. Engineer, artist, scientist and polymath, Leonardo left an immense body of work to study, admire and contemplate. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation plans to celebrate with a packed calendar of events.

There will be a number of screenings of the “Amazing Leonardo” (“Io Leonardo”) film preview by Sky Arte, directed by Jesus Garces Lambert, with Luca Argentero playing the title role and scientific consultation by Carlo Marani. The “Opera Omnia” exhibition created by RaiCom will tour 14 countries in Africa, Asia and Europe. Antonio Paolucci helped set up the exhibition, which will feature 17 high definition copies of Leonardo’s entire artistic output. The film by Massimiliano Finazzer Flory “Essere Leonardo da Vinci. Un’intervista impossibile” will be shown at missions and institutes, and some will be accompanied by a theatrical performance by Finazzer Flory. The “Da Vinci Experience” digital exhibition will be held in many places in North and South America, and there will be a reconstruction of scientific machines invented by Leonardo and made by Cross Media Group. The exhibition was created with the collaboration of the Director of the Museo Leonardiano di Vinci, Roberta Barsanti. The exhibition, which covers all aspects of Leonardo’s genius, is multi-disciplinary and allows visitors to interact with his engineering insights through an app.
