The Italian Embassy in Prague yesterday promoted the launch of the fundraising campaign “Aiuta Venezia!”, in collaboration with the Italian-Czech Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Czech National Television, the Municipality of Prague Capital and the company Jaspen.
The campaign was launched in support of the Venetian capital following the severe floods that hit the Lagoon last November.
The funds raised will be allocated to a recovery project that will be identified together with the Municipality of Venice at the end of the initiative. The launch took place in the Křížová chodba of the Carolina University of Prague, in the presence of Ambassador Francesco Saverio Nisio and the Vice Minister of Culture Petra Smolíková representing the Government, and the Rector of the Carolina University Tomáš Zima, on the occasion of the opening of the exhibition “Venetian Reflections”.
An exclusive exhibition, under the patronage of the Italian Cultural Institute in Prague, entirely dedicated to the works of the painter Jakub Špaňhel, one of the most important exponents of the contemporary Czech art scene, and the precious Venetian mirrors, historical and modern, produced by the Ongaro e Fuga workshop in Murano, renowned for its artistic artifacts, made according to the traditions of the great Venetian glass masters.
