Ukraine, the pianist Pietro De Maria in Odessa Classics

The pianist Pietro De Maria performed on August 11th at the International Odessa Classics Festival, thanks to the support of the Embassy and the Italian Cultural Institute of Kiev.

The Festival, inaugurated on August 10, marked the resumption of cultural activities in Ukraine after the coronavirus emergency. Present at the event, together with the local authorities, the Italian Ambassador Davide La Cecilia.

For Maestro Pietro De Maria it was the second participation in the Festival: “A presence, on 11 August, on a special occasion that – commented Ambassador La Cecilia – among other things consolidates our primacy in the promotion of classical music in the framework of one of the most important international musical events in Ukraine. Italy has been collaborating with Odessa Classics since the start of the Festival and we are very pleased, as Embassy and Italian Cultural Institute, to have been able to confirm, also in this edition, our contribution with the return of the Maestro, who already last year had a great success here”.

“We are very happy about this initiative, which is held in a city, Odessa, with an extraordinarily Italian flavour, both because of its foundation, by the Neapolitan Giuseppe De Ribas, and because it is decorated by students of Italian architects. I remember, among other things, that Odessa is the city where the famous song O’ sole mio was written,” added the Ambassador.

The spectacular location where the open-air Festival took place, the Potëmkin staircase, is also the setting for the event.
