On Tuesday 14 September the Italian Cultural Institute of Istanbul, with the IKSV Foundation, will be taking part in the International Jazz Festival with a live concert by the Stefano di Battista Quartet on the banks of the Bosphorus at the Swissotel Istanbul, Sultan Park.
Performing with the famous saxophonist Di Battista will be Fred Nardin (piano), Daniele Sorrentino (double bass), and André Ceccarelli (percussion). Considered one of today’s leading alto saxophonists in European jazz, Di Battista began playing in a local orchestra at the age of thirteen. He then turned to jazz, influenced by the music of Art Pepper and Cannonball Adderley. For the 28th edition of the Istanbul Jazz Festival, Di Battista and his group will be paying tribute to Ennio Morricone with a repertoire of the composer’s famous movie soundtracks.
