An exhibition of Raphael’s portraits is coming to the National Museum of Kosovo, organised with the support of the Italian Embassy in Pristina and the Italian Cultural Institute in Tirana, as well as the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport of Kosovo. Curated by art historian Antonio Paolucci, the exhibition presents the public with full-size reproductions of 14 wonderful works by the great Italian master and commemorates the 500th anniversary of his death, celebrated in 2020. The paintings include the “Portrait of Baldassarre Castiglione” (Louvre) and the “Portrait of a Lady with a Unicorn” (Galleria Borghese).
Thanks to the use of cutting-edge technology, based on photographs from the archives of the Italian public broadcaster RAI, the reproductions of the paintings retain all the details, nuances and colours of the originals. The backlighting system and a special support structure allows optimal viewing of the works from all angles. In addition, a multimedia and interactive structure provides visitors with facts about the life and works of Raphael. The exhibition, which has already been shown in Tunisia, Turkey and Finland, will be open at the National Museum in Pristina every day from Tuesday 21 September to Sunday 10 October 2021 (10-18), except Mondays. The exhibition will then move on to North Macedonia.
