“Conversazioni in piazza” is the title of a series of meetings, organized by the Embassy of Italy and the Italian Cultural Institute in Brussels, that began the “Week of the Italian Language in the World ” from 18 -24 October. The protagonists are Italian journalists and essayists who will converse with exponents of the Belgian and European scene in the two “Italian squares”: our country’s diplomatic offices in Brussels.
The first appointment, on 19 October, took place at the Italian Cultural Institute and saw the Italian journalist and essayist Federico Rampini, author of “Fermare Pechino: Capire la Cina per salvare l’Occidente” [“Bringing Beijing to a stop. Understanding China to Save the West”] (Mondadori, 2021) in conversation with Christophe Berti, editor of the Belgian newspaper “Le Soir”.
The other conversations are as follows: 08 November, with Benedetta Craveri, author of “La Contessa: Virginia Verasis di Castiglione” [“The Countess: Virginia Verasis di Castiglione”] (Adelphi and Flammarion); 15 November, with Paolo Valentino, author of “L’età di Merkel” [“The Age of Merkel”] (Marsilio); and 25 November with Maurizio Molinari, Editor of the daily newspaper “La Repubblica”.
