Zagabria: Italian language students awarded

On the occasion of the 21st Italian Language Week, the Italian Institute of Culture in Zagabria held an award ceremony for three separate competitions: the national Italian language competition for 2021, organized by the Croatian National Agency for the Education and Instruction of Students in the primary, middle and high schools; the Italian Language Week Prize in Croatia, an initiative established by the IIC and the Italian Embassy, centered this year on the theme of Dante, which involved students of the Croatian universities; and the art competition “Traveling with Dante”, organized by the Zagabria and Zara chapters of the Dante Alighieri Society, for students of the primary, middle and high schools. The works submitted for this last competition are part of an exhibition inaugurated at the Italian Institute of Culture that will remain open until November 14. The Ambassador, Pierfrancesco Sacco, the Director of the Croatian National Agency for Education and Instruction, Dubravka Brezak Stamać, the Director of the IIC Gian Luca Borghese and the President of the Zagabria chapter of the Dante Alighieri Society, Monica Priante, participated in the award ceremony.

The Italian Language Week in Croatia will continue with an wide-ranging program of initiatives organized by the Embassy, the Institute of Culture and the General Consulate in Fiume, including exhibitions, concerts, academic lessons on the subject of Dante, showings of the first full-length movie in the history of Italian cinema, “Inferno” (1911), devoted to Dante and a show by Lella Costa about the women of the Divine Comedy.
