The Italian Embassy in Lisbon has organized a webinar to discuss the opportunities offered by the aerospace sector for the economy and for our transition to more environmentally friendly lifestyle. A detailed study of the use of advanced technologies “such as those used in space, also with regard to an observation of the planet and of connection that would foster the development of more efficient, less energivorous and thus more sustainable productive systems” was made by the Italian Ambassador to Lisbon, Carlo Formosa.

In his opening address, Formosa explored in depth the trends of growth in value achieved by the so-called Space Economy. Papers dealing with the potential for collaboration between Italy and Portugal in the Aerospace field, also in light of the significant investments provided by the respective national plans in the sector, were presented by Luis Castro Henriques, President of AICEP Portugal Global, the Portuguese Agency for Investment and Foreign Trade, and Ricardo Conde, President of the Portuguese Space Agency, illustrating the programming and operational ambitions of Portugal in this sector.

Gabriella Arrigo, Director for International Affairs of the Italian Space Agency participated in the debate, illustrating the role of the Agency in the sphere of the renewed governance structure, and the multifaceted activities of collaboration with the European Space Agency. From the business perspective, the review of Italian and Portuguese engagement in the sector was conducted by the representatives of Telespazio and Lusospace Technology LDA.
