Italy donates vaccines to the Palestinian Authority’s Ministry of Health as part of the COVAX programme

A shipment of Covid vaccines donated by Italy and Germany, in collaboration with WHO and UNICEF, has been delivered to the Palestinian Authority’s Ministry of Health. The donation was made as part of the COVAX (Covid-19-Vaccine Global Access Facility) programme, an international initiative, supported by the United Nations, to ensure access to and fair and global distribution of vaccines. “This is one of the largest donations received by the Palestinian authorities to date,” said the Consul General of Italy in Jerusalem, Giuseppe Fedele, who emphasised that Italy has been among the first countries to support the importance of equitable and universal access to vaccines since the beginning of the pandemic and was one of the main supporters of the COVAX Facility. The donated doses were transferred to the Ministry of Health’s storage facilities in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
