Starting from Friday 14 January, the Italian Institute of Culture of Strasbourg will host an exhibition showcasing 29 cultural routes across Italy, including the Via Francigena pilgrimage route, the Rotta dei Fenici (the Phoenicians’ nautical routes), the European Route of Historic Thermal Towns, the European Route of Ceramics.

The exhibition, “Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe in Italy: a European heritage”, open to the public until 2 February 2022, will be presented by Simone Bacci, professor at the University of Strasbourg, at a conference to be held on 13 January (6:30 pm).

The European Cultural Routes programme was launched by the Council of Europe in 1987 with the Santiago de Compostela Declaration. The Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe (currently there are 45 of them) invite people to travel and discover Europe’s rich and diversified heritage.

The Strasbourg event was organised concurrently with the Italian Presidency of the Council of Europe Committee of Ministers (November 2021 – May 2022), alongside the Council of Europe and the Permanent Representation of Italy to the Council of Europe.
