The Embassy of Italy in New Delhi has organised, together with CDP (Cassa Depositi e Prestiti), a virtual event for the launch, in India, of CDP’s Business Matching Platform, which will allow Indian and Italian enterprises to connect and grow by setting up new partnerships, in order to boost business opportunities in the two countries. The event was attended by all stakeholders of Sistema Italia (ICE – Italian Trade Agency, Indian-Italian Chamber of Commerce, SACE- Italian export credit agency and Simest), by the Confederation of Indian Industry, which is already a partner of the Embassy of Italy in New Delhi, and by several other Italian and Indian companies operating in the two countries.

The event was opened by Italy’s Ambassador, Vincenzo de Luca, who stressed how complementary the productive systems of Italy and India are, both mainly consisting of small and medium enterprises that can interact and cooperate by doing business, by promoting common investments, and by sharing and jointly developing technology and new products. SIMEST president Pasquale Salzano also highlighted the effort made by Sistema Italia to support SMEs.

Despite the pandemic-related problems, there are some positive signals: new reciprocal investments, trade between Italy and India totalling 8.7 billion Euros in the first ten months of 2021 (the record figure being 9.5 billion Euros in 2019) and several examples of cooperation in the development of new technologies in particularly innovative sectors, such as energy transition.
