As part of the 2022 edition of Italian Design Day, the Italian Consulate General and Italian Cultural Institute in Barcelona organised a workshop to give young people a chance to experiment with design through new digital technological media; it was hosted by the IED Design School in Barcelona.

“There is no future without daily experimentation of the future itself” is the title of the event aimed at final year students at the Italian Liceo of Barcelona and the Liceo Chierici of Reggio Emilia. It involves a seminar on digital production inspired by Italian designer Enzo Mari (1932-2020).

“Design is an important tool to shape the future and build an increasingly better world for upcoming generations” said Emanuele Manzitti, Italian Consul General in Barcelona. Raffaella Perrone, director of the IED Design School in Barcelona said that “involving young people in the design experience could be the best way for passing down a modus operandi that goes beyond listening to a story or looking at a picture”. “The regeneration of products, spaces, services and communication systems, which are increasingly important and cut across all areas of human experience, must draw inspiration from a set of universal values that encourage the centricity of human beings in a sustainable, inclusive and well-distributed way” concluded Alessandro Manetti, President and CEO of the IED in Spain.
