The “Lakmé Fashion week” of the Indian Chamber of Fashion was inaugurated in the garden of the Italian Embassy in India. The event was opened by a discussion on the future of fashion between Italy and India, introduced by Ambassador Vincenzo de Luca, followed by a video message from the President of the National Chamber of Italian Fashion, Carlo Capasa.
Ambassador De Luca said: “I am happy to host the event that opens the Lakmé Fashion Week. This partnership will open up new opportunities for our markets and encourage an increasing number of designers to exhibit and work in both countries.” The debate, moderated by fashion editor Supriya Dravid, who interviewed representatives of the Indian and Italian fashion scene, was attended – among others – by the Undersecretary for Culture, Meenakashi Lekhi, and the Indian Ambassador to Italy, Neena Malhotra.
The initiative, organized in collaboration with Reliance Brands, the Indian retail giant that brings together the most important Italian brands, ended with a fashion show of the collection “The Enchanted Garden”, Mishra’s latest creation, hosted in the garden of the Embassy. The clothes were matched by accessories from Italian brands present in India, including Zegna, Canali, Georgio Armani, Versace, Salvatore Ferragamo and Bottega Veneta.
