The exhibition “Opera Opera. Allegro ma non troppo”, which gathers together a significant selection of contemporary art works from the MAXXI Collection, was presented yesterday evening, 30 March, at the Italian Embassy in Berlin. The exhibition will be held at the PalaisPopulaire by Deutsche Bank of Unter den Linden from 27 April to 22 August 2022. Artists, art dealers and representatives from the world of culture attended the “prelude” at the Embassy.
Italian Ambassador to Germany, Armando Varricchio said that “at times like this, art can inspire men and women to imagine and shape the future, starting from an account of their experience that is both personal and universal. The pieces chosen from the MAXXI collection illustrate this universal character of art very well”.
The exhibition – curated by Hou Hanru, Bartolomeo Pietromarchi and Eleonora Farina – pays homage to opera, one of the greatest expressions of Italian culture, from the perspective of contemporary art and architecture. Works are featured by Rosa Barba, Vanessa Beecroft, Enzo Cucchi, William Kentridge, Liliana Moro, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Olaf Nicolai, Susan Philipsz, Philippe Rahm, Kara Walker and many more.
