To celebrate the 700th anniversary of Dante and to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the foundation of the Italienzentrum of the Freie Universität Berlin, the Italian Cultural Institute in Berlin is organizing a seminar on the history of the more than 170 translations of Dante in Germany.
The event will be attended by Ludger Scherer, a scholar of Dante and Petrarch, and professor at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms University of Bonn; Irene Fantappiè, an expert in Italian literature from the 16th century to the present; and Bernhard Huss, professor of Romance Studies at the Freie Universität Berlin and Director of the Italienzentrum at FU Berlin, a specialist in Petrarch. The event, scheduled for 25 April, will be followed by a lecture by scholar Carlo Ossola, philologist and literary critic, professor of Modern Literature of Neo-Latin Europe at the Collège de France in Paris.
