An exhibition on Gianni Rodari, one of the world’s best loved children’s writers, has been organized by the Italian Cultural Institute in Bratislava in collaboration with theKatolícka univerzita v Ružomberku. The exhibition “Illustrators for Gianni Rodari. Italian excellence”, inaugurated in the Slovakian capital on March 30 and open until April 22, 2022, celebrates the centennial of his birth (October 23, 1920) with the works of Italian illustrators who reinterpreted his works.
Rodari’s works, which are innovative, universal and always topical, are an inexhaustible source of inspiration for numerous artists. He is present on the Slovak market with various books, including “Favole al telefono“. Organized by the Bologna Children’s Book Fair, the Emilia-Romagna Regional Administration and curated by Cooperativa Giannino Stoppani/Accademia Drosselmeier, the exhibition presents the works of 21 Italian illustrators, historical personalities, great contemporary artists, young artists, each represented by three works. These artists include Bruno Munari, Altan, Olimpia Zagnoli, Chiara Armellini, Fulvio Testa.The exhibition also includes translations into Slovak of some fairy tales made by the students of the Italian-Slovak bilingual high school “L. Saru” of Bratislava.
