Lucia Marcucci’s works on display in Bratislava

Bratislava in mostra le opere di Lucia Marcucci
Bratislava, in mostra le opere di Lucia Marcucci

The works of the artist and writer Lucia Marcucci will be on display from 26 May to 2 July, thanks to the commitment of the Italian Cultural Institute in Bratislava, as part of “Dolce Vitaj”, the Italian Festival in Slovakia. Lucia Marcucci was born and works in Florence; she is one of the main exponents of the Gruppo 70, a movement that came to life in the 1960s with the goal of re-evaluating the word at a time of massive development of the mass media.

In the artist’s works, the slogans extrapolated from the media mix with the images that determine a powerful evocative effect. This approach allows Lucia Marcucci to rewrite reality through a statement that goes from the role of women, in clear opposition to a patriarchal society, to the demand for freedom and peace, highlighting the contradictions of wars. Her works are found in many museums, including the Uffizi Gallery which included her “Autoritratto (Perfection)” in its collection of self-portraits. For the Dior fashion company, the artist created the piece “Vetrata di poesia visiva’’, a large installation that transformed the environment of the prêt-à-porter fashion show into a majestic stage with coloured images and lights, recalling the sacred dimension of the polychrome stained glass windows of Gothic cathedrals.
