Italy’s Ambassador in Dar es Salaam, Marco Lombardi, met – along with other European ambassadors – with the Speaker of the National Assembly of Tanzania, Tullia Ackson.
During the meeting, they addressed all the major issues regarding cooperation between the EU and Tanzania. As far as Italy is concerned, the Speaker wanted to thank our country for the important role it is playing, in terms of both development cooperation and economic collaboration. Particular attention was given to the projects conducted in Tanzania by Italian missionary and civil society organisations.
The Speaker also stressed the importance of parliamentary diplomacy and, while wishing the best to Italy with reference to the upcoming general election, she said she hopes it will be possible to set up an Italy-Tanzania friendship parliamentary association.
