On 7 November 2022 a course on “Respecting human rights in crowd control services” was opened for the police forces of Cameroon at the headquarters of the 7th Carabinieri Regiment “Trentino-Alto Adige”.
Funded by the Farnesina and the Carabinieri, the course is coordinated by the Embassy of Italy in Cameroon and is being held in the units of the 2nd Carabinieri Mobile Brigade.
Theoretical and practical training activities have been developed on several fronts. Within the modules, the importance of the psychological aspects of crowed control was underscored and further training on first aid techniques provided. The module on safeguarding human rights focused on proportionality in the use of force, correct arrest procedures, and the procedures to be followed in the use tear gas.
