Tirana: “Eterna Bellezza” exhibition, between Jodice and Canova

The photographic exhibition “Eterna Bellezza. Mimmo Jodice e Antonio Canova” (Eternal Beauty. Mimmo Jodice and Antonio Canova), promoted by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute of Tirana and the National Historical Museum of Tirana, will be inaugurated on 8 February.

The exhibition, which immortalises and reinterprets Neoclassical sculpture, establishes a dialogue between two artists from different eras, namely one of the greatest sculptors of European Neoclassicism and one of the greatest interpreters of contemporary photography – bringing together the ideal and the real, body and soul, materials and images.

Within the exhibition, Mimmo Jodice captures 17 of Canova’s sculptures through 51 shots, selecting glimpses and viewpoints and maintaining a one-to-one scale between the sculptural details in focus and the size of the photographic print. Seeking a profound connection with Canova, Mimmo Jodice approaches the sculptor’s works and brings them to life with his vision and creative process.

The exhibition will remain open until 28 February.
