The Italian Cultural Institute of Tirana, together with the Centre for Openness and Dialogue (COD), presents the first international stage of the exhibition “Fashion Panorama – The Italian New Wave”, a project of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, curated by Vogue Italia.

The Director of the Institute, Alessandro Ruggera, said: “The decision to present this exhibition in Tirana is linked to the renewed attention that Italy is paying to the Balkans and Albania’s traditional closeness to Italy and its culture. Only in recent years has Albania approached the world of design and fashion with interest and curiosity, finding in Italy its first and most natural counterpart. In a spirit of cooperation and support for the young local fashion sector, a meeting was also organised between Italian designers and the Fashion Design students of the Tirana Academy of Arts”.

The exhibition features a display of specifically-created photos and archive images, matched by audio-visual content dedicated to the work of 10 talents: ACT N°1, Gisèle, Cormio, Lessico familiare, Magliano, Marco Rambaldi, Medea, Panconesi, Niccolò Pasqualetti, SSHEENA. The aim is to tell the story of contemporary Italian fashion through their vision and work that – while reworking traditional craftsmanship in a new way and with innovative languages and methods – have been able to maintain a strong and integrated relationship with other Italian cultural and creative industries.
