As part of the Italy Week, the Italian Cultural Institute in Tirana presents ‘Heroes – Tribute to David Bowie‘, a concert by jazz maestro Paolo Fresu to be held on 6 June at the Opera and Ballet Theatre in Tirana.
On stage, together with Fresu who plays trumpet and flugelhorn, there will be an exceptional group of artists featuring Petra Magoni (vocals), Filippo Vignato (trombone), Francesco Diodati (guitar), Francesco Ponticelli (double bass, electric bass) and Christian Meyer (drums). Around thirty songs will be performed during the concert, including “Life on Mars”, “This is Not America”, “Warszawa” and “When I Live My Dreams”.
Paolo Fresu said: “As soon as this project was proposed to me, I felt honoured and excited. I decided to put together a unique band, specially created, with great eclectic musicians coming from different experiences, far from jazz. I believe this is a great value”. He added: “Bowie is an immortal author who has always been close to jazz. We will try to have the utmost respect for his art but also to be proactive, casting a new look on these songs.”
