The Italian Ambassador to Tanzania, Marco Lombardi, attended the signing ceremony of the contract between Leonardo SpA and the Tanzanian Ministry of Defence for the supply of two C27J SPARTAN tactical transport aircraft. The ceremony was also attended by the Tanzanian Minister of Defence and National Service, Stergomena Tax.
Equipped with kits for humanitarian, search and rescue, and firefighting missions, the new aircraft will be used by the Tanzanian authorities for firefighting operations on Mount Kilimanjaro and in the East African region. Together with Mr. Claudio Sabatino and Mr. Claudio Gelain of Leonardo, Ambassador Lombardi expressed great satisfaction for this first relevant result of the Italian System in Tanzania in 2024, and thanked all those who, with their contribution, have contributed to the achievement of this important objective, which is likely to have economic and employment benefits for Italy.
