An event dedicated to the women’s alpine skiing team was organised in collaboration with the Italian Winter Sports Federation on 21 September, with the participation of Laura Pirovano, the reigning World Cup downhill champion, Marta Bassino and the national team’s technical manager, Gianluca Rulfi.
In the auditorium of the Institute for Tourism of the Province of Tierra del Fuego, in Ushuaia, over a hundred people, including provincial and municipal officials, took part in a discussion led by the Consul General in Bahía Blanca, Nicola Bazzani, with the champions, to gain an insight into their sporting secrets, their personal qualities and the pride they take in representing Italian colours around the world.
Videos provided by the Italian Winter Sports Federation were also screened in honour of the Olympic medals won by Sofia Goggia and Federica Brignone.
The event attracted a huge turnout of young skiers, as well as a large section of the local community. This is a sign that, year after year, these initiatives promote a new way of experiencing and embracing Italian identity.
