Approximately 100,000 ancient Roman remains have arrived in the US to be restored and catalogued by several selected universities within the context of the “Hidden Treasure of Rome” project of the City of Rome, strongly supported by the Embassy of Italy in Washington and financed by Enel Green Power North America, a leader in renewable energy. The collection dates back to findings that came to light in 1870 when various areas of Rome were rapidly dismantled to make way for new government offices following the unification of Italy.
