Undersecretary Tripodi meets Spanish Secretary of State for Trade Senovilla

The Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Maria Tripodi, met today at the Farnesina with the Spanish Secretary of State for Trade, Maria Amparo López Senovilla.

The focus of the meeting was the reform of the WTO to strengthen the multilateral trade system, the adjustment of the Generalised System of Preferences Regulation to take into account both the needs of developing countries and the sensitivities of European productive sectors, and the developments regarding the Convention on Dual Citizenship between our country and Madrid.

During the conversation, Undersecretary Tripodi stated that “the government’s intention is to continue strengthening relations with Spain within the framework of participation in the European Union and in light of the Italy-Spain Dialogue Forum initiative”.

Tripodi concluded by recalling the commitment of the two countries to “jointly address the new global challenges and protect the shared interests for the stability of the Mediterranean, the promotion of European integration processes and the safeguarding of security on NATO’s Southern Flank”.
