The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, will chair the event for launching the Days of Italian Fashion in the World tomorrow at Villa Madama, an opportunity to discuss the sector’s internationalisation strategies and priorities.
MinisterTajani said: “The fashion system has a crucial importance for our economy and a strategic value in promoting the Italian brand in global markets. We therefore want to support this sector in a concrete way, through growth diplomacy. Tomorrow the Fashion Table for internationalisation will meet for the first time, a Protocol will be signed with the ten main trade associations, and we will present the Days of Italian Fashion in the World, which will be carried out by the over 300 Foreign Ministry’s Offices abroad.”
The ceremony will be attended by the Presidents of the main trade associations, the ITA President, Matteo Zoppas, and representatives of the Guardia di Finanza (Inland Revenue Police). A Memorandum of Understanding will also be signed between the Foreign Ministry and the associations, which will provide the institutional framework for deepening collaboration between the public and private sectors, and also envisages collaboration with the Guardia di Finanza to develop training projects abroad aimed at preventing and combating counterfeiting.
The Italian fashion system consists of 62,000 companies, with 565,500 employees and a total turnover of EUR 102.1 billion. In the first 10 months of 2024, exports reached EUR 69.89 billion, with a 2% increase compared to the same period in 2023, thus confirming Italy as the second largest exporter in the world behind China. The fashion sector accounts for 13% of total Italian exports.
