The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani, will inaugurate today at Villa Madama the “Days of Italian Fashion in the World”, an innovative format of integrated promotion within the framework of growth diplomacy.

Italy is the world’s leading producer of haute couture and the world’s second largest exporter of a sector that employs more than half a million people in 62,000 companies, almost 80% of which are micro-enterprises.

In order to step up promotional activities and make them ever more focused, on Minister Tajani’s initiative, the “Fashion Table for Internationalisation” will also meet this afternoon at Villa Madama, and will enable the Foreign Ministry and the main trade associations to start close technical coordination with a view to developing the Country System. This coordination will then be sealed by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding, during the ceremony for presenting the Days of Italian Fashion in the World. Said Memorandum of Understanding will make it possible to increase the quality and quantity of the events organised by the Italian diplomatic network for the benefit of Italian fashion and, at the same time, to fight against counterfeiting, with the fundamental support – in this case – of the Guardia di Finanza (the Inland Revenue Police), a force that has already been engaged for years in the protection of Italian products.

Considering the above, the “Days of Italian Fashion in the World” aim to relaunch, through Embassies, Permanent Representations, Consulates and Italian Cultural Institutes, an Italian fashion that is a vehicle for development and reflects our values, our creativity and our passion for innovation.
