#FarnesinaalSalone
For the third consecutive year, the Italian Foreign Ministry confirms its participation with its own stand at the 37th edition of the Turin International Book Fair, taking place from 15 to 19 May.
The rich programme of events curated by the Ministry offers an opportunity to showcase the full breadth of Italy’s diplomatic activity — a chance to bring citizens, both Italian and international, closer to the many facets of our diplomacy.
From sports diplomacy to support for the publishing sector, from careers at the Ministry and in international organisations to legal diplomacy, from promoting Italian design and architecture abroad to roots tourism, Italian language and culture, all this will be highlighted at the MAECI pavilion through dozens of events and initiatives with those who, every day, represent and promote Italy around the world.
The MAECI space will be inaugurated on Thursday 15 May at 12:30 p.m., in the presence of former World Cup champion Gianluigi Buffon, who will speak about the role of the national football team in spreading Italian values and identity across the globe.
A number of Italian authors will take part in meetings at the stand, including Michele Masneri (Friday 16 May at 5:00 p.m.), Federica Manzon (Saturday 17 May at 12:00 p.m.), and Nadia Terranova (Saturday 17 May at 1:50 p.m.).
In addition, at the stand, maestro Massimiliano Finazzer Flory will deliver a tribute to the Italian language as a work of art (Friday 17 May at 12:00 p.m.), while the pavilion will also host discussions on disinformation (Friday 17 May at 4:00 p.m., with journalists Giulia Pompili and Gabriele Carrer) and legal diplomacy (Sunday 18 May at 10:15 a.m., with Nicola Gratteri and Nicola Allocca).
The Italian Foreign Ministry will also organise two events in the conference rooms of the Fair.
On Thursday 15 May at 4:00 p.m. in Sala Avorio, Alessandro De Pedys, Director General for Public and Cultural Diplomacy, Nicola Gatti, professor at the Politecnico di Milano, and Emilia Garito, founder of Quantum Leap, will explore the role of artificial intelligence in shaping international dynamics, in a panel moderated by Zapping host Giancarlo Loquenzi.
On Friday 16 May at 3:00 p.m. in Sala Avorio, Carlo Ratti, curator of the 19th Venice Biennale, Pippo Ciorra, Senior Curator at MAXXI in Rome, Paolo Trichilo, Italian Ambassador to Zagreb, and Alessandra Capuano, Professor of Architecture at Sapienza University of Rome, will discuss the contribution of Italian architects to the global architectural landscape. The event will be moderated by Costantino D’Orazio, Director of the National Gallery of Umbria in Perugia.
Participation in the Turin Book Fair remains an opportunity for the public to discover, through culture, how Italy continues to shape the world, and how diplomacy can be a driving force for change and growth for future generations.
