Due to the escalating blockade of fuel supplies along all major road routes into Mali, carried out by terrorist groups, the country is experiencing a severe fuel shortage, which is significantly affecting electricity provision. This situation may further deteriorate the security environment, including in the capital, Bamako.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly advises against all travel to Mali in view of the tensions arising from these critical conditions. Italian nationals currently in Mali are urged to leave the country as a matter of urgency and to ensure that they have registered their presence with the Italian Embassy in Bamako, via the website DoveSiamonelMondo.it or through the Viaggiare Sicuri app.
