An Italian school is one of the 20 candidates for the Aga Khan Award for Architecture 2013. A school that is very special, in view not just of its location but also of its creators. The primary school in Herat was set up thanks to the Maria Grazia Cutuli Foundation, named after the journalist killed in Afghanistan in 2001. The 20 long-listed buildings will be whittled down to a short-list of six, with the winner announced in Lisbon in September 2013 taking home a prize of 1 million dollars. Read more, in Italian.
