Zambia: an Italian Cultural Centre to open in Lusaka

An Italian Cultural Centre will soon be opened in Lusaka, the capital of Zambia, and will be located near the Italian School. The Centre is planned to host a multi-functional hall with a capacity for 300 spectators for theatre and music performances (it is fitted with a piano and an audiovisual system) and film screenings and an exhibition space in which to display paintings and visual art objects. The project is part of the actions to promote the Italian language and culture in Zambia. The ceremony for laying the founding stone of the cultural centre is scheduled for the 27th of March, at the presence of Italian Ambassador Filippo Scammacca. And this is not all: the legal establishment of the Dante Alighieri Society in Zambia will be celebrated at the Italian Embassy next 10 May. The aim of the Society is to intercept second-generation Italians in Zambia who tend to be English-speakers, or expatriates interested in practicing Italian.
