In the light of the pledge made by Italy at the last Yemen High-Level Pledging Event of 3 April 2018 and of the deterioration of the Country’s humanitarian crisis, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Emanuela Del Re, has arranged for a package of emergency interventions for the Yemeni population worth 5 million euros. Of these, 2 million euros will be allocated to the World Health Organization (WHO) to enable it to boost its activities in the provision of basic medical services; 1.5 million euros will be instead made available to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) for the direct distribution of food and relief supplies to displaced people; lastly, 1.5 million euros will go to the World Food Programme (WFP) to fund food programmes for children under five.
