“Today the fourth annual session of the Joint Committee for Development Cooperation, chaired by Vice Minister Emanuela Del Re was held, in a virtual format.
During today’s session the Joint Committee adopted a package of initiatives worth over 50 million euros, of which about 29 million euros are earmarked for contributions to be made to International Organisations for projects in Africa, the Middle East, Albania and Afghanistan.
The session has also provided the opportunity for going into issues of the utmost interest for Italian Cooperation in greater depth, with a contribution from Juan Lucas Restrepo, Director General of the “Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT”. Mr Restrepo has given an introductory overview of Bioversity’s work, specifically related to current and future collaboration with Italian partners, and to the 2nd International Agrobiodiversity Conference, to be held in 2021.
“Despite current criticalities, the Italian cooperation agenda is full of commitments and events on a multilateral as well as on a strictly bilateral level,” the Vice Minister said. Vice Minister Del Re then outlined the outcomes of her recent missions to Niger and Mali for the Committee.
