Minister Moavero Milanesi holds a telephone conversation with the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Libya, Ghassan Salameh

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Enzo Moaveri Milanesi, is closely following the evolution of the situation in Libya. The ministry has repeated Italy’s full support for the legitimate Libyan institutions and for the UN Action Plan for Libya. Italy condemns all acts of violence and calls on all parties to reach a peaceful and negotiated solution.

Tonight Minister Moavero held a long telephone conversation with the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Libya (SPSG), Ghassan Salameh. The SPSG gave his personal evaluation of recent events and of the actions to overcome the tensions and the current instability.

Minister Moaevero and the UN Special Representative will speak again in the next few days to maintain a productive exchange of information and work on possible actions to support the peace process in Libya.

Minister Moavero is also planning to contact his counterparts from the countries most affected by the Libyan crisis ahead of the organisation of an International Conference in Italy in the autumn.
