Motoforpeace mission for children stops off in Canada

Motoforpeace, a charity set up by Italian and other European police forces to raise funds for projects to help poor children, has stopped off in Canada. It started in Panama, in March, and travelled through Central America to the US and Canada. It was received in Toronto by the Consul General, Giuseppe Pastorelli. Its 24 members met the Italian community, before going to Ottawa where they were welcomed by the Italian Ambassador, Gian Lorenzo Cornado, at his residence.
The bikers, led by chairman Bernardo Lepore, met the Italian community and Canadian police forces. They explained their project by showing a video that illustrated the charitable missions and programmes they have completed. A praiseworthy undertaking, the Ambassador underlined, emphasising the strong message of solidarity conveyed by the mission. They also met the city’s chief of police, Charles Bordeleau, and visited the Royal Canadian Mounted Police training centre.
Funds have been raised to refurbish a reception centre in Bolivia, to cover the costs of caring for children for a year in a charity in Honduras and to pay for healthcare facilities in the most deprived neighbourhoods of two Honduran cities.
