Lima – ‘Italian Glamour’ fashion exhibition arrives in Peru

The exhibition “Italian Glamour” will be presented in Lima by Gestión Cultural Iberoamericana and the Pedro and Angelica de Osma Gildemeister Foundation under the patronage of the Italian Embassy in Lima and the Ministry of Culture of Peru, as well as the Italian Institute of Culture (IIC) and various Italian and local businesses. The show, which will open on April 15 and run until July 10, 2016, presents 77 major high fashion and ready-to-wear garments, part of the famous “Quinto – Tinarelli” collection, which highlights the evolution of Italian women’s fashion from the post-war period to the present day, grouping them by subject. The decision not to follow a strictly chronological order arises from the idea of highlighting the vitality and modernity of the older models by juxtaposing them with the newest models. Descriptions of each model will give information about its history and provenance. Some of the dresses are iconic, the precursors of new trends, while others were worn, for example, by figures like Jacqueline Kennedy and Princess Diana, actresses like Gina Lollobrigida and Ava Gardner, and models like Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell. In addition, 26 garments from the archives of the Max Mara brand complete the collection. The event uses fashion to highlight the success of Italy’s famous design tradition. The exhibition was also presented in London (V&A Museum) and in Rio de Janeiro, at Ciudad de las Artes, and resulted in a book: “Italian Glamour: The Essence of Italian Fashion, From the Post-war Years to the Present Day. The Enrico Quinto and Paolo Tinarelli collection”, which especially focuses on the evolution of Italian creativity after World War II until the end of the seventies, turning it into a real “iconography”.
