Museums and cultural landscapes will be the focus of attention on Mar. 14 at a roundtable in Argentina. The event, organised by the Institute of Italian Culture (IIC) in Buenos Aires as part of the Year of Italy in Latin America, is a day of study in preparation for the next ICOM (International Council of Museums) congress, which will take place from July 3 to 9, 2016 in Milan. The speakers at the event, coordinated by Nelly De Carolis, President of ICOM Argentina, include José Kenny, scientific attaché at the Italian Embassy in Argentina, Carmen María Ramos, executive director of the UNESCO Chair of Cultural Tourism at UNTREF (National University of Tres de Febrero) – AAMNBA (Association of Friends of the National Museum of Fine Arts), Maria Teresa Alarcón, Director of Cultural Studies at the Universidad Nacional del Nordeste, Mario Sartor of the University of Udine, and Alberto Garlandini, President of ICOM Italia.

The Council is an international organisation of museums and museum professionals committed to preserving, ensuring continuity and communicating the value of the world’s cultural and natural heritage, present and future, tangible and intangible. Founded in 1946, it is a non-profit organisation that brings together more than 30,000 members in five continents. ICOM is an advisory body of UNESCO (United Nations Economic and Social Council). The Council, considered the world’s largest network of museum professionals, comprises a total of 117 national committees, five regional organisations (supranational committees of the corresponding regional areas), 31 international committees and 20 affiliated international organisations.
